Richard studied at Trinity College of Music in London and has enjoyed a freelance career as a trombonist ever since. He initially worked mainly in the classical field working with, among others, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, English Symphony Orchestra, the RSC and Northern Ballet. More recently he has worked with several big bands and touring theatre shows, including Hello Again Neil Diamond, as well as developing his jazz career with his own quintet and as a guest soloist with numerous bands. In addition to performing, Richard is also a highly respected teacher of trombone and jazz educator.
